Overview
Hellmuth's Million Dollar Poker System Volume 1 is really just poker strategy for dummies. Hellmuth spends a lot of time going over the basics of the game. Anyone who has played serious poker for more than a couple of months is not going to learn anything from this DVD. The title of the DVD is also a bit misleading because it focuses almost entirely on limit hold'em cash games, instead of poker strategy as a whole.
Poker Advice
Phil rehashes much of the same bad cash game advice he gives in "Play Poker like the Pros" in this DVD without giving the solid tournament advice. More than anything, he simplifies preflop play far too much. He encourages players to raise and reraise with hands as weak as 77. However, the "majority play" preflop hands section offers some decent, basic advice.
Hellmuth also constantly advises his viewers to "raise to see where you are at." While this advice is helpful at times, it is far from the most important move to make at the flop.
Phil goes over many example hands and gives useful advice in those situations. His section on pot odds is also decent.
Presentation
This is a pretty straightforward DVD. Almost the entire DVD is Phil just talking to the viewer. He does not particularly capture your attention, but he also does not confuse you.
