How I run when I take shots

LOL. Compare this to Gus's thread about taking shots and hitting sets. ;)

Seat 1: Hero ($1,013.75 in chips)
Seat 3: XXXX ($739.50 in chips)
Seat 4: XXXX ($955 in chips)
Seat 5: Luckbox ($992.25 in chips)
Seat 6: XXXX ($1,237.60 in chips)
Seat 7: XXXX ($1,357 in chips)
Seat 8: XXXX ($256.50 in chips)
Seat 9: XXXX ($1,182 in chips)

XXXX posts blind ($5), Hero posts blind ($10).

Preflop:

XXXX folds,
XXXX folds,
Luckbox calls $10,
XXXX folds,
XXXX calls $10,
XXXX calls $10,
XXXX folds,
Hero checks.

Flop comes 7D,6H,7S

Hero bets $30,
Luckbox calls $30,
XXXX folds,
XXXX folds.

Turn brings 9S, now the board is 7D, 6H, 7S, 9S
Hero checks (I had a reason - this is the right play, don't everyone tell me this is why I lost ffs),
Luckbox checks.

River brings AD, making the board 7D,6H,7S,9S,Ad
Hero bets $100,
Luckbox bets $952.25 and is all-in,
Hero bets $873.75 and is all-in.

Hero shows [ 9D,9H ]
Luckbox shows [ AH,AC ]
Hero wins $21.50, Luckbox wins $2,006.50.

I ran so terrible today, this is just the tip of the iceberg. But this is how I run, not only when I take a shot at a soft game (as is the case here) but at usual limits as well.

Aww, but someone needs to be results-oriented and say that's why I lost!

LOL, obviously the check there isn't a bad play since the most likely holdings to flat call me there contain a good # of hands that either just improved, or were strong all along and will handle a c/r.

LOL your turn play is fine because you go broke no matter what happens in this spot.
are you playing on ongame?

I agree I go broke no matter what, but I played the turn the way I did because I thought it was the max EV move. I was wrong about that against his specific holding - if I knew he has AA/KK here, i bet again.

villain didnt bet the turn because of the ongame theorem: if the flop is paired someone has always trips

scary how true that is

thinking about the hand, twllm do you never raise out of big blind here? how about if it was 6 max?

sick cooler

the turn check is fine.

thats a 2k river card

If you had bet the turn it would have altered the river card due to the way the algorithm works so you played it terribly, you suck at manipulating the river card - work on it.

If you have been running bad why are you taking shots? Man I miss Party and Ongame.

luisma Jun 18, 2007 12:45pm

Then when he can take shots if he always run bad???
