Planning Vegas Trip

Hey guys. I used to post here.

I'm going to vegas next month and I'd like some recommendations on what to do/where to stay. We've got a budget of $2500 for 7 days. 3 of them will be at the Grand Canyon.

What hotels are the best?

Hey dude, long time no see.

I'm actually going to vegas this week - booked tonight, leaving on Saturday - it's so last minute it's entirely *un-nitty* of me.

IMO the best hotels are the ones you can get cheap. Check out travel packages right now - I saw some sick ones, like flight + four star hotel (e.g. Bellagio) at like $700ish for 4/5 days including flights (and this is from Toronto, I'm assuming you're flying from somewhere much closer). There's some good deals out there for the Strip. I know I have a fairly low comp rating (just enough to be on the lists and get more than the 'public' offers) and I'm getting hotel for free except for a discounted rate on Saturday night.

My policy is to stay at the cheapest place that is clean/nice enough that it doesn't detract from your visit, and then spend the rest of the $ on having a blast instead of on the room (which you'll rarely use cause it's vegas). For instance, staying at like Bally's or Paris instead of Caesars (to use Harrah's casinos, for example), but *not* going as low as Imperial Palace. :P

In terms of time at the Grand Canyon, I have no clue.

Someone starts this thread at least once a month. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a level.

Yeah but Theonlythree hasn't been here in a long time, and is a reputable fellow, so I tried to give my basic philosophy - plus being a nit and making last minute vegas trip plans is so out of character that it has me giddy like a school girl. :P

+1

Bed and a toilet is all i need when i'm in vegas. And it's right about in the middle of the strip which is convenient if you're doing a lot of walking.

In Vegas related news; i'm booking in at Meredian in a condo that sleeps 3 from June 1 - July 15 with a guy from 2+2, Michael and there's room for one more if anyone is looking for accom for the WSOP. Total cost is 3k for the six weeks so approx 1k per person (although based on time spent, i'd say min of 4 weeks if you want to stay for the series). Michael's arriving on June 1 and i'm arriving June 12 for the record.

Anyhow if anyone has made last minute WSOP plans I thought i'd offer here, you probably have somewhere from 2-3 days before I give the third spot to a random 2+2er

Also if anyone is in town for a couple days we'll have to catch up, let me know if you're going to be in town :)

I said it last time, and again. How about a sticky? Makes sense, it's a common question people will have on the forum.

you might be interested in this offer:
http://www.harrahs.com/getyourwings/?rd=hcomflash_gyw

bottom line:
you get a $300 airfare voucher if you stay (or at least check in ;) ) for 3 days at a harrah property. eg you could stay 3 days at imperial palace (even though i wouldnt rly recommend that) for $115 and get a $300 airline voucher. sounds like a +ev promo to me.
