0.9; 0.99; 0.999; 0.9999.....

then each member of the sequence is less than 1 but the limit is exaclty one. Another...

This is a gemoteric series. The limit of this one is 9*(1/(1-1/10))=10, since the series starts at i=0. Your series starts at i=1, so the limit exists and is 10-9=1.
* = 0,9 + 0,09+ 0,009

Proof:

For two different numbers a,b the following is true: (a+b)/2 is neither a nor b.

If (a+b)/2 is in {a,b}, then a=b.

E.g. 1/2 and 2/4. 1/2+2/4=4/4, divided by 2 is 2/4....
