Default First Trip to a Casino

I went to a casino for the first time this past weekend and bought $60 (I'm a college student) and sat at a 3/6 Holdem table. I had been watching this table from the viewing area and made out each person's betting style before I sat down. 2 tight players, 7 loose ones. Very loose table in general. I sat down. Played tight. I payed to see the flop on marginal hands and folded if I didn't have anything. I was down to $12 after an hour when I got AA in hand. Slow played to get 3 people in with me to the flop and won with 3 aces. I made back my $60. Told myself I'd pay the blinds and play one more time around and call it a night. In those ten hands I got 88 with an 8 on the flop, KK suited, and then QQ on my last hand of the night. Walked away with $140 ($80 profit) for an hour and a half. Not the best story, but hey for my first day of live poker, doubling my money was sweet.

WOW King King suited!

Just playin with ya, congrats.

I have only played holdem in casinos twice, both times I had NO idea what I was doing.

First was in a casino in Colorado about 9 years ago. I sat down with around 80 bucks if I recall, possibly 100. I had to ask what to do, didn't know what a blind was, did not even know how the cards came out (knew what beat what though). I was "that guy" at the table - playing like a dummy and getting lucky. At one point I went in with 2 low hearts (53 i think) and hit a straight flush on the turn. Got in a raising war with someone who had the nut flush I am sure and I can only understand now the quizical look he gave me when I flipped it over. Anyway I was up to around 300 dollars at one point then went down a bunch then lost the rest in 2 hands in a row (QQ vs KK and KK vs AA the very next hand!)

Next was in Tahoe about 4-5 years ago. No memorable hands, just tossed $100 to the "sharks" slowly over an hour or 2.

I am going back this winter armed to the teeth!

I have been thinking alot about visiting the casino to play, I am still intimidated, but thinking about just playing tight for an hour or so and see if anything comes from it.
