Default black queens stink.

So I returned to the Hold'em SNG tables tonight, feeling lucky and inspired (after having played that poker game aseyer mini-reviewed last week and discovering a flaw in my mental approach to the game)... and I think I played pretty well overall. I played a more aggressive game than I had been playing, and had put myself in semi-decent (not great) position to make the money.

Then this hand happened:

PokerStars Game #556389542: Tournament #2116139, Hold'em No Limit - Level IX (300/600) - 2004/07/20 - 02:07:37 (ET)
Table '2116139 2' Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: BobbyGM (1420 in chips)
Seat 2: headblaster (3875 in chips)
Seat 3: duke0125 (7365 in chips)
Seat 4: jenise (9285 in chips)
Seat 7: biggie1369 (2045 in chips)
Seat 8: sffan72 (3010 in chips)
BobbyGM: posts the ante 50
headblaster: posts the ante 50
duke0125: posts the ante 50
jenise: posts the ante 50
biggie1369: posts the ante 50
sffan72: posts the ante 50
duke0125: posts small blind 300
jenise: posts big blind 600
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to sffan72 [Qs Qc]
biggie1369: folds
sffan72: raises 600 to 1200
BobbyGM: folds
headblaster: raises 1200 to 2400
duke0125: folds
jenise: folds
sffan72 said, "ok, let's go"
sffan72: raises 560 to 2960 and is all-in
headblaster: calls 560
*** FLOP *** [Ah 6c 7h]
*** TURN *** [Ah 6c 7h] [2h]
*** RIVER *** [Ah 6c 7h 2h] [3h]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
sffan72: shows [Qs Qc] (a pair of Queens)
headblaster: shows [Jc Jh] (a flush, Ace high)
headblaster collected 7120 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 7120 | Rake 0
Board [Ah 6c 7h 2h 3h]
Seat 1: BobbyGM folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: headblaster (button) showed [Jc Jh] and won (7120) with a flush, Ace high
Seat 3: duke0125 (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 4: jenise (big blind) folded before Flop
Seat 7: biggie1369 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: sffan72 showed [Qs Qc] and lost with a pair of Queens

I was guessing he had AK or AQ preflop (and preparing mentally for the ace to spike), so I was shocked when he showed JJ.

As for the end result-- that's poker, I suppose, but for now, in my little room here, black queens stink.

Thanks for listening.
When I cash, it's skill... but when I win, it's luck.
