Default Ripped off at a game and the Prision Guard Game

I am 20, I play in local rooms when I can find a room going on and a game I wanna get invovled in, mostly older men and women in these rooms, besides some of our lil crew I am the youngest at the table. But I was 19 when this happend almost a year and 1/2 ago.

my sob story now(not really a sob story)
This was the largest game we knew about around this area, finnaly got my shot and after my first night I got banned from this local game cause they didnt like "my style of play", read on you be on my side after a lil while..... I got the advange of watching for about a hour cause they had a full table had to wait for someone to get knocked out. This is a game of older gentlemen too 30-60yrs, after I tweaked how I wanted those guys to look at me, I sat down, made it seem like I only played on the internet for play money or whatever.............Made it seem Like I couldnt handle my chips real good and just sat and waited on a hand.. Let couple guys bluff me out on small pots ..did pick up a couple pots but nothing really too large where I wanted to be...till.......Finnaly I did get the chance for what I was looking for I induced the person in position to make a bluff after I made kinda a unreasonable reraise with pocket 9's, I knew he had ace with another over card when we raised, guy played his ace w/ face cards the same atleast he did this time and my read was right that time, so when the flop came with a ace and my 9, I went ahead and slow played him and he had more chips then me and he raised, so I came in over the top with like 375 and so after that double up and folding a alot in the blinds and picking up couple small pots I was up too around 750 or 800 or so.........after that I changed my style started playing with my chips stacking them doing a few chip tricks, pitching my cards back to the lady that was dealing in the good fasion of Scotty pitching them sometimes so you could get a slight glance of what I was folding. really loosened up and got real agressive and worked position, did alot of positional bluffing nothing too tricky, made alot of good lay down or atleast from what my read was it was good(neverknow on a couple of those guys they been playing for 10yrs+).. Just really ran my game from then, picking up small pots, couple bluffs that I showed to select few ran a few guys really hot(I dont show ussally but these guys where talking big game and it induced a call later when i wanted it. shut them up too, alot of trash was talked at this game) really avoided getting into a confertation with someone that could do alot of damage with marginal hands outta pistion and well after about 5 or 6 hours of play I finnnaly cashed out..like the payout I was looking forward too... I looked forward too this game for like 3 months saved up for the buy in. The guy who ran the game, which I didnt know at the time and also didnt know that he was having money problems, he cashed in his own books like $$1800......so he was trying to get me to play him heads up omaha after wards once alot of players got knocked out and the 3 people he paid out before me, which would been really bad for him I likes my omaha (hence the name)
my friend told me the story about his divorce and the bs he didnt have the money too pay the full amount which was owed too me, cause he paid out all his regular players before he got to me and he had a bad run of cards tonight, I was up $2800, he gave me like $1300, and told me he was gonna put me down in his book and the next game he should have the money to pay up.I didnt really argue that much cause my friend kept telling me man he had it hard or some stupid stuff....Guess cause of my age he just didnt wanna pay it out, I did break him a few times that night.he was a loud mouth anyways..we where suppost to work out a deal where he was gonna buy me in a 5/10 NL $1500 buy in or the rest he was gonna get too me later that week or something.............well after a bunch of bs he never payed up and after I bad mouthed him too alot of his regular players couple people stopped going, he finnaly paid up like 2 months later when I seen him at Wal-Mart hr paid up $1200 more and he banned me from his game, which was the largest game at the time I waited a while to get a invite to that game. I can still find a larger stakes game every now with players that know their game, a tighter game, a readable and more my style too play against . But like a weekly game The only thing that I can really put togather with the lack of players that are around here and are willing to play is like a $50 1/2 PL game, before a couple weeks it was well over a year and 1/2 since I really got to sit down at a table with pot close to 3g's in them. Got invited to a prision guard game, alot of money in the pot but you had to deal with people that watched the WSOP and now thing they are pro it was rollercoaster night couldnt win a race situation and was getting callled down on some of my bluffs but no one once came over the top of me, which made me mad cause I should of busted this game, camehome with $200 over my buy in . Just kinda nervous about the casino now cause I am about to be 21 I couldnt get anything to work for my that night, timing was off, really had to grind it out too break even, I was down to my last 80 bucks and got a small rush with a couple timely bluffs. I GOT REALY LUCKY couple hands towards the last picked up a flush all in on the river, I was in position and this guy finnaly figured out too slow play me, since he hasnt been doing it all night I really was pushing and beating up on him really irriating the guy he was only guy I could really bluff with large raise, he was scared of the big raise, but he had a set,, I really like when luck helps your chip stack from not going across the table.

Sitting around with some of my friends drinking beer on these little $50 buy in stuff just been building my pay roll for the casino and playing for gas for my buell and school but they really never test me anymore or shake me up like I got at that prision guard game, took everything I had to be pleasent and not show that I was shaken up pretty bad. couldnt do anything couldnt make any tricky moves, it was boring play tight and grind I sat at the game for almost 7 or 8 hours to make 200 bucks long grind.

But thank god for the net I can see atleast 20-100 hands a day but you cant make any money on the net, just enough too break even and deposit every now and then, I get more nervous playing on the net cause just by what little notes and patterns I find in SOME peoples play, Bluffing with position being a big thing I really worked on hard kinda scares me on the net....And another thing what is up with these crippled deck draw outs on pokerstars I always loose a big pot with like a 2 or 3 out catch. I guess that does give me some sort of mental pep for the casino, but I need to find a game too get my courage back up, kinda stunned after those TDCJ boys made me really think and tested me mostly, not that they where better then me, I know my game was stronger but they call on anything. Kinda like playing the internet. 2 and 4 dollar blinds, I had JJs, I raised like 25 bucks and some guy calls with K 2 and hits a set of twos, big pot I lost, you aways remember those

Yeah hard anywhere to find someone to respect a 20 y/o poker player, I wrote that in a chemistry class this morning, trying 1/2 attention to a teacher talking about organic chemistry, made since this morning, still does, More like a stream of consciousness, makes since to me..............but thats not saying much

If the formatting - or lack thereof - wasn't bad enough, the story left me feeling as though I was knee deep.

Like MannyIsGod said, the formatting is the biggest problem, other than the fact that your story sounds a little fishy. ;)

I'll assume it's true though, so here's what I think about it:

You may have been banned from that game for several different reasons I can think of.

1. If you acted like a jerk at the table, although it didn't sound like you did. Considering how glowingly you described yourself and your play though, it's hard to know if you're covering it up...

2. You won *a lot* of money. I have rarely won close to that at a single $2/$4 NL table in one session, and that's with the other people getting busted and replaced by new people. You had to bust some people several times or most people at least once to get that, and it probably didn't make them want to play with you. ;)

3. The average/weak may not have wanted to play with you again because of your aggression, or the other good players in the game may not have wanted you eating the sheep they were trying to shear.

4. You talked bad about the guy running the game...who knows if he found out what you said or not, but if he did I would put this as the number one reason for him banning you.

As for internet games, this part makes you sound pretty unbelievable. Maybe you just play badly online for some reason, but unless the other games you've played in live are *super* soft, I don't understand how you could beat them that badly and still just break even or lose online.

For the last 2 years, starting from a couple of weeks after I first picked up the game, I have done very well online up to $5/$10 NL and $15/$30 Limit (the highest I've played so far), so I know for sure that it's possible to win.

If you're playing at Poker Stars though, the competition is tougher, and maybe it's too tough for you. If you try a different site you should win a lot if you're as good as you say. If you are though, I won't mind if you stayed away from online Poker, unless you wanted to give me a cut.

actually, beleive it or not i understand what hes saying totally..

what his problem is he entirely plays the players and has zero patience. plays far too many hands, notice how he said about being online and waiting and not catching hands..... thats what playing online is about.

also, hes use to playing passive people that will lay down a hand.... now we all know how online play is. so many people stay in the ones that have nothing fold and if the other is calling you 9 times out of 10 they got ya beat if they are calling or raising you down.

your just going to have to get use to playing online.

you must learn to wait for your hands and use position, use a combo between playing players but also for gods sakes use your cards too. i think a 50% bluff ratio is just a TAD bit high. I understand how you play and if you want to win online youll have to adjust it ALOT. but dont worry... once your good online you can apply the same concepts to a home game and win even more. i played online for an extended period of time with no live play at all... then i played alot of live games all at once and i just killed everyone becuase you can actually see the people and get much better reads from them. online has much less tells obviously.

stick to this board do lots of reading i know for a fact it will help you.. but dont expect it to happen over night. also, ask lots of questions... and try to shorten your paragraphs a bit.

good luck

When you win close $2800 and the guy dont pay up, you damn right I am gonna bad mouth the guy for not paying up, shouldnt be running a game if you cant control your own gambling.....But I act like a jerk a the poker table anyways, I have only been on this site for one night and I got everyone talking.......see its all a mind game...........promise no more long rambling, just wanted to see how long it took for everyone to hate me, now when you people see me in a poker room on the net, a few will remember.....nah I dont think I will be that special, more like special ed.
