Well I did something stupid, but it paid off. After losing buy-in after buy-in after buy-in in my stud game, I figured I'd go play a game at .25/.50 NL. This is 2 levels up from my usual .05/.10 NL. If I won, good. If I lost, I'll move down levels from my normal game. This is how it turned out:

Quote:
PokerStars Game #5048678295: Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2006/05/25 -

Seat 3: chaaaa ching ($19.30 in chips)
Seat 4: hurtchow ($39.60 in chips)
Seat 5: Skyguy922 ($30.70 in chips)
Seat 6: Dinde_77 ($33.85 in chips)

*** SHOW DOWN ***
PhilTMcNasty: shows [Ks Kc] (two pair, Kings and Fives)
hurtchow: shows [As 5d] (three of a kind, Fives)
mercdpd leaves the table
hurtchow collected $76.70 from pot
hurtchow is sitting out
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $79.70 | Rake $3
Board [6d 5h 5c Qc Th]
Seat 1: mercdpd (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 2: PhilTMcNasty (big blind) showed [Ks Kc] and lost with two pair, Kings
and Fives
Seat 3: chaaaa ching folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: hurtchow showed [As 5d] and won ($76.70) with three of a kind, Fives
Seat 5: Skyguy922 folded before Flop (didn't bet)

Now I can stop playing for a while. I'm lucky that guy was married to his hand. My turn bet should have been obvious.

What a fish! Makes me think if I shouldn't play NL ring games from time to time.

Well we have all have those lucky above my usual limit moments...

In this one you definitely got lucky as you never should have called preflop no less flat called the raise. In a word stop playing Ax non suited from all positions... playing this hand is a leak for sure.

So knowing this if I were your opponent I would have discounted you from having the five in your hand. I'd put you on a possible over pair to the board. He was an aggressive player and went for it. When the Q hit on the turn and you still bet out I would not put you on QQ but maybe AQ or KQ...so I can understand why he reraised.

It worked out for your this time....but be careful next time.

Kevin

Yeah, flopping those fives was exactly what I needed, because I knew my hand was well disguised.

I don't intend to do this again. I just hope I can stick to my word.
