Zomfg What the hell did you do? Did you start sleeping with the rig operator or something? What stakes did you play?

It's been a very strange month for me. I started out with a few losing sessions. Then had my best day ever. +4.8K at the cash games, and a 12K score in a tournament. So about +16.7K that day. My results after that were absolutely disastrous for about 3 weeks. Somehow I managed to lose 32 buy-ins (THIRTY-TWO!!!!!!!!!) at 2/4. That has never happened to me before. And I wasn't even running far below EV in all-ins the week when I lost most of it.

After that, my cash game results for the month looked like this:

(Hm, I think this image is from a few days before rock bottom actually. I probably lost another 1K at 2/4 after this).

I really don't understand how this is possible. Yeah, there was some tilt involved, but not that much. I just lost a lot of big pots and hardly won any big pots at all. How the fuck do you deal with a player who open-raises 50%, 4-bets 40%, and has AA every time he gets 5-bet? That sort of thing happened to me a lot.

After this I decided to only play 2/4 NL the rest of the month, to play short sessions (~500 hands), and no more than 5 tables at the same time. (I was playing 6-7 when it was going really badly). This helped me play better, and I also started running better after a while. About breakeven for a few days, and then 20 bb/100 over the last 8K hands. The month ended on about +4.8K, including rakeback and the tournament.

I think I at least learned something important this month. I have finally accepted that I'm no longer a winning player when I don't really try to play the best I can. I will stick to the "short sessions, no more than 5 tables" format this month, even if it means I'll play 20K hands less than I would have otherwise. I'm starting out with a mix of 2/4 and 3/6. I won't play 5/10 until I've made a significant profit, or I see a huge fish there. I will also try to play 200-300 hands of 1/2 PLO per day. I'm going to have to learn that game sooner or later. The losing result at PLO in August was expected, since I had never really played it before. This month I hope to make a small profit.

Still feel there is room for much improvement in my game:
NL200 +3300
NL100 +4000
PLO +300
Tourney +500
Bonus +3300
Live -1000
=10400

Didn't play last 11 days of the month because I'm in NYC. Probably will stay here till the end of the month so won't play much in September. Maybe will go to Atlantic City for a few days next week, but not sure about it (live poker is boring). If I eventually will go - do you guys have any advice on wich casino should I play in and what stakes?

Check out the Brick and Mortar forum on 2+2. There is lots of info on the different AC casinos. I've been to AC a handfull of times and The Borgata has by far and away the nicest poker room in AC with the most tables and game selection. There will be dozens of 1/2nl and 2/5nl tables.

The Borgata is in the Marina area so you won't be close to boardwalk but that isn't very important since AC is kind of a dump. Harrahs is a short cab ride away and they have a decent poker room.

If you are on the Boardwalk DON'T go to the Taj or the Tropicana I've been to both and they suck. Bally's poker room sucks too from what I've heard(never played there) I've played in the casino there and it's ok.

Showboat has a nice poker room(on the boardwalk and you can see outside) and I liked the casino. I stayed there in Aug on my last trip to AC. I highly recommend the Rib and Chophouse restaurant at the showboat it was pretty awesome.

Caesars is ok but the last time I was there my room sucked BAD and the casino is dark lol i dunno it just bothered me. The nice thing about Caesars is its location and proximity to restaurants and shopping type stuff(if you have a gf or wife to appease)

From what I've heard other than the Borgata which always has tons of tables open, the busiest rooms will be at the properties where the Bad Beat Jackpot is high. If you plan on playing higher than 1/2 you probably need to go to the borgata.

Running stupid good live, +1600ish after travel expense/meals/red bull

Big score in a tournament sold seat and total winnings outside that 6500

Rakeback +200 ish.

online cash game was not great for my usual standards - dead even. I blame that all on myself. as I played rather poorly and didn't really make adjustments for certain attitude changes in myself regarding the stakes I was playing. Little more respect, a little less snap calling might have helped an assload. Also, for the record - I admit to losing three huge pots because I didn't read MY OWN NOTES THAT WOULD HAVE SAVED ME. That is all I have to say about that....

cashed out a shit ton for my roof, spent the rest on a truck.

Currently have 400 set aside for redeposit, and live roll sits at the max that I usually keep it at, 600.

September I hope to continue to run well and scrounge another 400 out of my live game for a reload and I wil start grinding 10$ 30 man bounties , 20$ doublers and 20nl cash game again and start moving up. I also plan on moving up to a Tuesday 1-2 game at the end of the month for a trial run. Will post how that works out in next months.
