The best thing was the quote from the guy right after that hand
"I put you on AK so I called"

So, am I overplaying my QQs? Personally, I dont feel that I am but I am seeking some friendly advice since im pretty burned up about these two hands.

Considering the bet in relation to the pot size, I think you played just fine.

Also, the second hand was clearly a bad beat (2 outs), though in the first hand, it was about 50-50. He had 14 outs (flush draw, another 4, an ace), so it was really a coin flip.

Thanks for pointing that first one out. You are correct in that.

My question is when you see a flop like that and it is checked to you, do you move all in or play it a little slower?

One other problem was that this was the very first hand when I sat down, so i had no knowledge of his play.

Looks to me like you got your money in the pot when you had the best hand and from 65% to 90% chance to win.

Just do that 10 more times.
