Default DOH This just happened (hand to discuss)

I think maybe I should have raised on the flop, and I am killing myself for it. Also once the board paired it really seemed like a situation where I could have gotten crushed.

How do you think you would have played it?

I would have bet the turn and called a raise. I definitely would have bet on the river after his check on the turn. I don't see any reason to put him on a full house here, did you have a read on him that suggested he had the boat?

His ten dollar into a 1.50 pot suggested to me one of two possibilities:

1. He has QJ, 22, JJ, or QQ. He is betting big hoping to get me off of any hand that has a heart in it. This seems like a fairly reasonable play here.

2. He is bluffing. In the event he is bluffing, he would not call a re raise. However, if I just call and no other hearts come out, he may try to make a big bluff again on 4th or maybe on the river or possibly both.

I decided that chances were good that if no other hearts came, or nothing that paired the board then I could catch him trying to bluff again, hence, I just called. Unfortunatly the next card was a J, a huge scare card so I decided to check it down and avoid the trap if he did in fact have a full house.

Note, AQ (the hand he actually had) did not cross my mind once. Maybe if I was holding a K high flush then I can see he could have been betting with AQ with the A of hearts.

Oooooops, I read that $10 as $1. Okay, I get it now

I think I still would have bet the river, though. The check on the turn says to me that he's as scared of a full house as you are. It could be a trap, but it might not be. Depends on your read of the player, I suppose.

I can't recall the AA vs. Everything odds, but I think it's in the 60-70% range and sure, you can win most hands, you'll still lose more often than not. I prefer to trap people for big hands.

For example, I had the nut-flush, ace high right off the bat and I kept praying people with only a flush-draw would hit their flush. As I had the ace, I knew I wouldn't lose (the board didn't really have anything beyond the flush).

I kept checking till the river and the river turned a 4th card of the same suit, I was in position and someone put a pot bet, I went all in and the guy called me and lost his pants.

Now THAT is a sure thing where I wouldn't blink about going all in regardless of costs.

Default misleading subject line....

Heheh, when I saw the subject line of "AAAKKKK!!! This just happened," I thought you were going to say you had A-A in the pocket and the board came A-K-K-K-K.

Default Free Look?

I am no authority, I am just curious as to why give him a free look at 2 cards to improve his hand? If you bet over after the flop and he folds you win $20. It's nice to milk, but in effect you could have slow played yourself out of the hand.

yes, I think that i should have probably raised on the flop. I probably could have had his whole stack, but like I mentioned before I played the hand as if he was going to commit more money later on.

Its a toss up, based mostly on my read on the guy i think.
