primetimeoz folds.
Ulisess is all-In [575]
karlpgh folds.

Nice play. It's important to let people know that stealing your blinds isn't going to be easy, and it's nice to be able to make that point without it costing more than 2.5X BB. Not going to get a better price on that!

Thanks for posting it. It's nice to see that there's a good side to bad beats. Actually, it wasn't much of a bad beat, as you had already put in almost half of his bet and you'll win it one in 3 times.

Gongratulations on your good fortune!

It's times like this that make you glad that you play poker.

And for real money!!!!

Edit ->Oh, Largadon. Didn't see that you posted.

Largadon, please note, this was a SNG tourney hand, not a ring game hand.

I'm not claiming grand skill on this hand, the odds of flopping a flush are what, about 100 to 1? (0.8% as I look it up, so close...)

My tournament life wasn't at stake. I had a chance to knock out an opponent.

And we were in the money at this point anyway. I shoulda clarified that originally.

So, call me a bad player if you want, based on one hand that I posted, where I readily admit I got lucky, I don't suffer fools long.

Hmmm...let's take a quick look at the math here.
Our Hero has to call $375 into a $775 pot.
He is getting 2.1-1 on his money.
The short stack is most likely pushing with any 2 cards at this point.
3d2d against any 2 overs is only about a 4-6 dog. Even against A-K (which is actually less a favorite than our T9 in this case) is only a 6-4 favorite - not quite the miracle you seem to believe, huh?
This assumes both our Hero's cards are live, which is likely to be the case. In addition, he can knock a player out which only adds value to his call.
Thus sffan had an easy call to make.

Nice play ssfan.

I would rather not be in a pot with sffan. He actually knows the value of his cards.

Nice call. Of course you got lucky, but you had odds to call. Personally, I would be on the edge since it is real debatably with me to call an all in with a bit more than 2-1 with a 23. But you got in a good situation to race with it.

And they were soooooted!!!

That's a nice compliment, kid, and I do appreciate it, but how I played this hand (and the thought behind it) is a reflection of the advice given here by the long-time posters over time. A year ago, I would've folded. In a heartbeat or two. And then cursed my rotten luck later for likely finishing 4th instead of 1st, or 2nd (which is where I wound up in this tourney). I mean, come on, who calls with 3-high??

But thinking about the odds, and the situation... sometimes, you manufacture your own luck. Based on the odds presented.

Good thing in this case since he did flop a pair. ;)

And now, of course, I'm fearful that someone will suck out on me with 23s at the next monthly tourney.
