Getting the Same Hand to Fold with a Small Bet
I was playing in a live tourny today to warm up my live game and this hand comes up. The structure is bad, but I didn't really care that much. So blinds are 100/200. I pick up A10. Instead of going all-in, I raise it up to 700 since this table (it was a two table tourney) would fold to small bets on the flop if they missed, so I thought I could get a bit more equity since I was calling/betting no matter what.
The small blind calls and the Big Blind asks how much I have left, and I pick up 400 and say as much. I guess the SB thought that I was all in and proceeds to start to turn up his cards and flashes A10 and then the dealer tells him I'm not all-in yet.
The flop hits nobody, he checks and I go all in for 400. He folds and I flip up A10 and take the 1600 pot for my prudence in saving chips for a flop bet.
When he flashed A10, I was just about to laugh, but held it in because I knew he would fold to any bet unless an A or 10 hit.
