Default Some Times You Have to Just Play Bad Poker (long)

I was playing against this one guy who was the worst poker player I have ever seen at a FT .25/.50 6 handed table. He would limp with random hands and call raises to them. What made this worse was that he would bet the flop in the insane amounts ($7 into a $2 pot or more). I eventually gave up raising for the most part and just limped with any hand that could be big since he would call my raises with stupid hands and I would have no idea where I was at. So I decided to be really trappy and check to him with my monsters and do small bets at pots to keep the size down with marginal hands. Now for the fun hands.

This one's a warm-up:

FullTiltPoker Game #301179421: Table Exeter (6 max) - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em - 0:00:20 ET - 2005/11/21

I really wanted to go bed (I'm falling asleep as I write this), but this guy had too much money for me to quit. I had to pretty much play the opposite of how I usually do (I don't like to play passively preflop, especially 6 handed), but the situation seemed to dictate it

Sorry for the long reading, but I wanted to paint a good picture of what I was up against. Any criticisms are appreciated.

This guy made my buddy list.

Great to see that thread. Laughing out loud at his bet in the last hand; pleased to see that other at the table were doing the same.

Out of interest, were others taking him on/getting the same treatment? Obviously there are a number of hands in between these, but was he involved this stupidly just about every hand?!

I would have maybe called the last hand and tried to milk more out of him?

The funny thing is that it seemed that noone else was adjusting. Maddman was commenting on his play, but I didn't see anyone else actually react to his play. Maddman kept on "tapping the fishtank", but I kept most of my comments to my self. I did say something after the J10 v. 102 hand, but I mostly kept to myself.

I think the problem was that most players didn't have the "Chutzpah" to actually risk their own stacks in marginal situations.

Edit: I didn't see any reason why I should just call because if had any concept of pot commitment, than he would have to call his last 18 into a pot that was over 180 bucks. Even if he had something like 55, he was getting the odds to call.

I think this is fair comment. I mean, even in that last hand, your kicker wasn't exactly strong! I wonder how you might have felt had he flipped over K4.....!!!!

What happened on that last hand? Did he really bet $60 into like a $5 pot? Then fold when someone raised $60 more? Insanity.
