Default I have 2 JJ hands that I want checked out please.

I was two tabling, and not really paying close attention to people (mostly because I still have trouble getting reads on people), so I don't know what type of player each person is. Most involved in the pots were not the ones that stood out in my mind at the table though.

Hand #1: I had been at the table for about 30 min. I was involved in a few pots, but I wasn't really playing many hands.

** Game ID 588728152 starting - 2005-11-24 00:06:48
** Sherry Spinner [Hold 'em] (0.10|0.20 No Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

- GET060201 sitting in seat 1 with $23.03
- jleehaus70 sitting in seat 2 with $14.00
- _rille sitting in seat 3 with $8.95
- spencerino sitting in seat 4 with $11.05
- JonesR sitting in seat 5 with $24.75
- Rollin_River sitting in seat 6 with $34.30
- Corey020 sitting in seat 7 with $16.70
- j2zooted sitting in seat 8 with $13.30
- NE14GOLF sitting in seat 9 with $13.60
- bipsie sitting in seat 10 with $7.10 [Dealer]

GET060201 posted the small blind - $0.10
jleehaus70 posted the big blind - $0.20
NE14GOLF posted to play - $0.20
** Dealing card to Corey020: Jack of Clubs, Jack of Spades
_rille called - $0.20
spencerino called - $0.20
JonesR called - $0.20
Rollin_River called - $0.20
Corey020 raised - $1.00
j2zooted called - $1.00
NE14GOLF called - $1.00
bipsie folded
GET060201 called - $1.00
jleehaus70 folded
_rille folded
spencerino folded
JonesR folded
Rollin_River folded

** Dealing the flop: 5 of Clubs, 6 of Clubs, King of Spades
GET060201 checked
Corey020 bet - $2.00
* As pre-flop raiser, I made almost a half pot continuation bet. I thought about betting a bit higher to give the flush draw bad odds, but the K scared me a bit.
j2zooted folded
NE14GOLF called - $2.00
GET060201 folded

** Dealing the turn: King of Clubs
Corey020 bet - $2.00
* I don't know if it is worth it to take another bet here or not. I was thinking that I wanted to see what he thought of his hand. If he pushed I had already decided that I would fold.
NE14GOLF called - $2.00

** Dealing the river: Jack of Hearts
Corey020 bet - $2.00
* I bet the same amount again, since I figured that he would not think that I was holding JJ. I was hoping that he would have a hand and come over the top.
NE14GOLF went all-in - $8.80
Corey020 called - $8.80

Hand #2: I had been at the table for almost an hour. The only real hand that I really got mixed up in was an all-in pre-flop, KK losing to AA. Some of these players were on both tables.

** Dealing the flop: 5 of Hearts, 5 of Spades, 4 of Clubs
WOBB803 checked
dcc1220 bet - $0.60
Corey020 raised - $1.80
* With no re-rasie pre flop, I did not think that dcc had AA-QQ. I wanted to see how he felt about his hand so I made this raise.
wahoo231 folded
WOBB803 folded
dcc1220 called - $1.80

** Dealing the turn: 2 of Hearts
dcc1220 checked
Corey020 checked
* I was not sure if he was playing tricky or not, so I decided to take a free card to see what showed up.

** Dealing the river: 8 of Diamonds
dcc1220 went all-in - $7.26
Corey020 called - $7.26
* On this call, it took me a bit of time to decide if I wanted to actually click the button. In the end, this bet by him just didn't make sense to me.

So, opinions?

First hand, I don't mind anything untill the turn bet. I think that you have to either decide if your hand is good, and bet the pot or so, or just give up on it and check it down.

You got lucky on the river, and managed to get his stack which is awesome.

Second hand, I think is fine untill on the river, where I have no idea what you should do. Hopefully we get some experts in here pronto. On such a coordinated board, an over bet like this could really mean either a monster trying to confuse you into calling, or a strange bluff.

First hand I'd have done the same. Your opponent has a small chance of holding JK, which puts the only real threat as KK. I imagine he had ended up with a flush?

Second hand, I'd be suspicious of suited connectors. I probably would have dropped out of that one because there were a couple hands that had your jacks beat. Did he have a straight?

Lemme know how these hands turned out!

Hopefully you will get some more opinions on this, but in the micro limits you (and I) are playing a pre flop raise does not get the respect it should a lot of times and JJ is only high pair on the flop about 50% of the time, not a great prospect when you are seeing the flop with 2 or three callers. I treat JJ like a low pocket pair unless I am in late position and sometimes even there if the table is really loose passive. In early/middle position I usually limp in and go for either a set or overpair on the flop.

Hand 1 looks ok to me; looks all over that he had the flush draw but picked up the one club which was your card. If by chance he did have Kx, more fool him for not forcing you out on the turn.

Hand 2, more caution. Given the river card I suggest you do whatever you intended doing on the turn if he'd pushed there. Sure, he could have 67s or even 88 in the hole and drawn lucky at the river but my money is on him having A5 since he bet the flop and called a raise there. Fold I think.

Hand 1 - I think he is playing KJ (or less likely K6,K5). If you're lucky its AK, but i don't think it was a flush draw. I don't think you can get away on the river, but I would probably have check/folded the turn and bet the pot on the river (less without the turn bets) to see what his response is. Maybe too weak but I think there's a good chance i'm beat.

Hand 2 - He's got a 5, don't care what his other card is - I'm out.

... and there we have the nub of the problem.

1 You made 2 big mistakes that should've cost you: by your own admission you hadn't been paying attention to the players, and your flop bet was too weak to chase off drawers, esp. at 2NL. Therefore I think you should check/fold the Turn when the 3rd club falls.

2 As above, you hadn't been paying attention. What else are you doing when you're playing poker? Watching TV? Eating? Talking on the phone? Scratching your arse? The flop pot's about $4, it's $0.60 to you and I'd have raised more, say around $4 which should get rid of lower overpairs. Raising to $2.40, or whatever it is, doesn't tell you enough. Horrible.

northview.

nine times out of ten when you make a post its usually to insult someone and when do you do give advice you still intermix insults in with it.

why dont you do alot of the people here a favor and just shut the hell up, your nothing but a pain in the ass. people come here to ask innocent advice on how to improve their game.. please explain to me how your middle school bully attitude is justified as punishment to these people. have you ever been new at something before ? i know you have to be new at poker at one time. is this how you were treated ? if so did you enjoy it ? why treat others this way ?

one thing i learned in life is that theres never an excuse for being an asshole.
