Are you sure it was irony?

Are you sure he didn´t seriously mean that those who approach poker the right way can expect after a long time of playing to have such an hourly rate?

The majority of online poker players are losing players.

I know, but they lose because they aren´t willing to read books and in other ways try to get better (aka have the right approach to poker). I ignore players without this characteristic in this context. I do realize I ignore at least 60% of the players by doing so.

I'm 99% sure, given that the immediately preceeding post was spam, and that most often the reaction to spam is sarcastic mocking.

Thus if I try, I will probably after 1000hrs of play make 12-56$/hr, average of which being 34$/hr which then is my expected hourly rate.
There are a lot of players out there (myself included) who got good grades in school, read books, study poker, try our darndest, and don't make anywhere near $34 / hour.

I see now that it could have been irony, but it would be nice if Hustler could confirm it.

What would be a more sober hourly rate interval after 1000hrs of studying poker with the correct approach?

How many hours have you studied poker (reading plus playing), Cetacean?

Perhaps you haven´t studied enough yet to say whether or not you will reach 34$/hr.

Your hourly rate is dependent on (amongst other things) the size of the game.

You could be the best cash game player in the world, but if your bankroll only supports single-tabling 0.01/0.02 NL, your hourly rate won't reach anywhere near the figures you've quoted.

Ok, let us say for simplicity one starts with $50 and don´t withdraw money unless when it can be done without having to stay longer on lower limits than necessary to move up.

Bankroll wouldn´t be an issue after 1000hrs then.

What's your reason for choosing 1000 hours? Did you pick a round number out of thin air, or was there some calculation involved?

North, if you don't mind some helpfull advice, tape a pillow to the wall while you bang your head against it. It serves two purposes: you will not have to pay someone to mend the hole, and you will be much less likely to split open your head.
