Default What car should I buy ? ? ?

Ok heres the deal, I'm 16 years old from canada, and am looking to purchase my first car.

Price Range: $6,000 - $8,000 Canadian (5,000-6,000 USD)

Conditions:

1. At least 200 horse power
2. 4 or 5 seater, 2 door coupe, or 4 door sports sedan
3. Preferably imported

Choices: There are two cars I know of that meet this description but I am interested in getting some insight on more cars like these

1. Nissan 300 ZX

2. Mitsubishi 3000 GT

Before I even saw you suggested it, I already had thought "Mitsubishi 3000 GT". I have a Dodge Stealth (basically the same thing, it's actually made by Mitsubishi), and I love it. It looks cool. People who know nothing about cars think it's pricey as hell. And its got some balls. I only paid $5,500 for mine and haven't had a single problem with it in nearly two years now (and I drive a lot).

Get it!

Both are very nice. If I'm right the Nissan is Twin Turbo-Charged for a bit of extra fun (and faster than the current 350Z)...not sure what engine the 3000 GT has but again another nice car.

Afraid that my options were fairly limited when getting my car as it had to be a hatchback and not so nuts.(insurance etc)

So I bought an Alfa Romeo 147....oops

I'd really like a Brera in the future but that's when my career's gone above doormat

They'll both be reliable as they're Japanese. Seem like good choices.

I'd lean more toward the 300ZX if it's a TT.

For that money, and if you're looking for a car with some cajones, I'd recommend a 95-97 V8 Camaro/Firebird. I know it's not an import, but they're great bang for the buck. Never owned one but have driven plenty. Almost 30 mpg on the highway with a 6-speed. The back seat isn't that roomy unless your passengers are under 6'. But they can actually haul a bunch of crap with the seat down.

Is either one blue? Blue is very important.

Sounds like a great car. I just have to worry about the fact that they are hard to come buy in Canada

Strange for Japanese cars. Although I know Madza use Wankel (yes yes) engines in the RX series (not sure if it's in the RX7, definitely in the RX so could casue a few problems. Usually Mazda's are fine thought. The MX-5 and the RX-8 are two awesome cars (but you won't get them within budget....usnless it's a 20 years old asmatic MX-5)

Have you looked into mini-trucking? I also live in Cdn and have a 91 S-10 blazer. Cleanest S-dime around dropped 5-7 with candy paint drippen off the frame. In all honestly tho, I like the 300z's. Check out older 3-series BMW's. You can find some great deals in Toronto if your will to search a bit. A BMW raises your rep 3 solid points on down-payment alone. GL man
