UPDATE - well I peaked around 1680 a few days ago but since then I've fallen into a major losing streak....My bankroll has fallen down to 1280, down 400 dollars. I moved down from the 30 dollar SNGS to 10 and 20 (mainly 10s) until I come out of this. My playing hasn't changed and Im still making correct reads, but bad beats and just bad situations have been the majority of the decline. Some examples.

You get AK, pop it up to 4x, run into KK or AA
You get KK, run into AA
Your AK goes down to A10
Cant win a coinflip
Cant get cards

Its getting very frusturating but I feel as long as I play lower stakes and play steady poker, luck should chang eventually

Keep it up, it's downheartening when you're on a downswing but remember its decisions not results. Inspired by this thread I've started my own seroius SnG assault. Not very good results so far, about break even, some donk plays and some interesting beats such as a couple of runner runners and a 2 outer earlier but its all good.

How much below 80 did you drop before you started climbing back up, or did you start out good/lucky and only go up there?

SnG's definately have a high variance, but i have built my bankroll on 90% SnG's and 10% ring games at Stars (rough estimates). They are definately beatable, i dont play above the $10+1 tourneys yet but even at this level it is filled with lots of weak players. Keep up the good work joe! Btw, do you play your SnG's on Stars as well?

I started at 80 and never looked back....I was lucky enough not to hit a bad streak early on. I think after the first 50 I had only made 56.00, but that was nearly double my bankroll at the time.

I dont find the 20 or 30s to be any harder than the 10s. I only play on Absolute Poker but I'll probably be leaving there soon. I love SNG's since you don't need to risk a huge portion of your bankroll everytime you play. If you sat down with 500 dollars at an NL cash game and happened to take a bad beat, you could lose all that money on one hand. SNG's give a better cushion

SNGs are definetly the best way to build a small bankroll. Props.

I onced played a lot of SNG to help build my bankroll and I would not be where I am now without them. But as I got better and better I had no need at all for these anymore and stuck with ring games. Of course that was so long ago that was when they called them "Single Table Tournaments" on Party Poker.
