I was trying to make a connection between the integrity of those in charge of poker rooms as compared to their operating off-shore gambling operations and taking bets from citizens of nations where such activity is illegal. If knowlingly violating the laws of a country and providing a forum for the people of that country to be in violation of such laws, I then doubt the honesty of such people and would have to surmise that if given the opportunity, which they have, of maximizing profits by manipulating aspects of their business such as online poker games, that the greed-based temptation to do just that is perhaps a possibility or a reality.

If they are ignoring laws to make money then one has to question whether rigging an occassional big poker game is beyond belief. What I would find more suprising is a 100% totally honest poker site, given human nature and other unknown variables. Obviously I am in no position to prove or disprove this notion, but who would ever invest with, let's say, a broker that has legal troubles in another area of his business that is not your particular investment?

I most likely could have been less accusatory in my original statement, but I certainly am not naive enough to think for even a moment that with the huge amount of money circulating throughout the online poker world that everything is on the "up and up". I've had my share of unexplainable happenings during online games, strange program bahavior, observed cheating, etc., etc., and seldom get an acceptable answer from the poker site in question. To think that every site is honest and straightforward is denial.

Hey Ronin, nice avitar. The resemblence to you is uncanny.

ok lets clarify some things:-

firstly the DoJ considers all online gaming- including casino and poker type games. Others beg to differ.

Secondly the DoJ have charges against BoS include the provision of 'casino type' games see section 20 in the in the link to the full indictment...

Why do you allllways have to put forward a conflicting point of view (no matter how ignorant and impossible to argue inteligently) until people get tired of you and the thread just dies?
What's the very best that you can hope for with all these 'I told you so posts'? Some attention with a reply next time you log on. Shame you can't get the replys for the same reasons as the respected players with strategy advice or a sense of humour that doesn't infuriate everyone else.
Or I could be completely wrong and we're all arseholes towards you for absolutely no reason.

It might be the latter....lol.

My point was that quite some time ago I tried to start a discussion on the integrity of the industry and how easy it would be for an entity to cheat at the game. I was scorned, told to shut up, and assurred everything was on the up-and-up, in multiple threads mind you. Then we see an example of exactly what I was talking about. The response again is being told to shut up, that we were right to shut you down, it's coincidence, or whatever.

It's not a case of saying "I told you so," rather is pointing out the fact that in one's haste to counteract everything someone may say or suggest, perhaps you miss the point entirely?

I understand statistical analysis will eventually uncover cheaters, or should anyway. All I ever intended to convey was that players shouldn't be 100% confident in the simulation and should be vigilant, which was met with the opposite view, that all was well and fair and legitimate and I was just stirring up trouble. Then we uncover exactly what I was talking about and suddenly it's worth discussing.

Granted it was only a generalization about human nature, and I had no evidence of any cheating, and perhaps it was out of context in the particular thread. Sure. Why not be allowed to discuss it however without being judged?

So I bumped an old thread? Big deal? Will it result in a mass exodus of the greatest members or just by chance will life go on?
