OH MY GOD!!! I swear I did not mean to start a 'poker is rigged' thread. I don't think I can edit the poll questions at this point but maybe I should add:

What was your biggest mistake when you started playing for real money?

#5 - Playing on the sites that are the most rigged.

*lol*

My biggest mistake was playing way too high for my bankroll. 1/2 is not quite appropriate for 50$. Reloaded several times and blew 400$ like that.

Yup. Took $50 (buddy invite) to Party for 0.5/1 without the first clue what I was doing...clever. Yup that went.

Then bought a couple of books, logged on here and realised

Oh and I called the Waaaaaaaaaaaambulance far too much

lol, when I first started to play I deposited $25 on pokerroom . When I stopped playing I had $13 left and I went to bed thinking what an idiot I was to just waist $12 on some stupid game.
The next day there was the new depositors MTT, and I ended up 3rd. I went to bed thinking I was the new Jackie Chan of poker .
After a week I was up $100 and I was sure I was the new Jackie chan of poker. A fearless player who was here to stay and make $100rds and $1000nds of $$$.
2 days later I was broken and broke. took me a month of playing witrh playmoney before I started again. same thing happened doubled up just to fall like a brick.

Probably my biggest problem was being a calling station. not knowing when to raise, when to fold, how to get information,...

Not being aggressive enough. But I make up for it tenfold now.

There should be an "all of the above" option. I played too many hands (I remember when Q8s looked good), didn't play aggressively enough with good hands, didn't get information, etc.

I didn't reallly have a bankroll problem. I did play 1/2 FL with a $50 deposit, but that wasn't really my bankroll. I suspect it wasn't for anyone here since we all reloaded after busting. I managed to learn most of the basic lessons (pot odds, starting hands range, aggressiveness, etc.) with only a couple hundred in deposits and have been profitable since.

However, a bigger problem that popped up in my second year of playing was concentration. Once I figured out that I could play profitably I started playing while doing other things (surfing the web, watching TV) and that was a BIG mistake. I had some rough downturns. Now if I want to play while doing something else (or if I'm drinking) I'll just drop down to a micro level where a big downturn is negligible (the $1 + 0.2 45-man NL on stars is great for drunk playing!)
