I once saw a show of him rescuing a crocodile from some god-awful zoo in some god-awful country. His plan seemed to be

1. Jump in.
2. Prod it to see if it tries to kill you.
3. If it doesn't, rescue it.
4. If it does, wrestle with it until it gets bored, then rescue it.

He spent his life going all in with 72o and living to laugh about it. The man had balls of steel.

its a shame for he seemed to to believe in what he did, and his children will grow up without him

Anyway its very hard for his family!
God bless them!

One thing perhaps we all can agree on is that we saw it coming. After doing some of the things that guy did, how do you top yourself and keep people watching your show? You go from "pretty deadly" animals to the "world's deadliest". Crikey!

I admired the guy for living such a wild and dangerous life as the rest of us live in the mundane working world. Part of what made his show so great was the possibility that tragedy could ensue at any moment, and so we watched. I feel for those he left behind.

He could of just sat back with his millions and lived a comfortable life but he truly wanted to preach understanding of nature and conservation. Hopefully his death will further such understanding and open our eyes to what we are losing, given our indifference to the loss of habitat and species and our lack of connection to the natural world. He was a hero in that regards, risking his own safety to catch our attention and get us to listen.

Rest in peace Steve!

You have to remember that although it looked dangerous who knew exactly what he was doing and had a team there to help him out.

The way he died was extremely rare and hasn't happened in 26 years. Great guy though

Also Peter Brock just died in a racing practice accident

For anyone who isn't Aussie he was a very famous supercar racing driver
