Sorry BZ, I didn't mean Pokerstars. I play on PartyPoker.

Its sflowers1200 by the way.

P.S. my ROI has dropped some, its down to about 62% right now. We'll see where it levels off at.

Another update: Its been about a week since I started this post and now my BR is at $400. My ROI since my last post has raised back up again. After 42 SnG STT ($10+$1) games my stats are:

42 games played
% ITM -> 47.62
% In 1st When ITM -> 55.00
% In 2nd When ITM -> 30.00
% In 3rd When ITM -> 15.00

ROI 73.08%

I'm still very proud of this. I'll keep you updated and any feedback is very appreciated.

IF you are crushing the game you can maintain that ITM, but you can´t continue to win every 4th STT so the ROI will drop sustantially. I am not trying to break your spirit or anything, just trying to dampen the inevitable ROI-fall.

OK.. a couple of questions? What exactly is ROI? How is it calculated? And what is Sharkscope?

Someone the other day told me that my ROI was 15% (his sharkscope told him). That is prob. about right if good is 20%....I'm always a little below average in everything.

ROI is Return On Investment. It is your total profit from a specific type of tournament divided by the sum of your buy-ins for these tournaments.

I don´t know what Sharkscope is, but it sounds like a tracking software which registers amongst other things how well your opponents do when you play against them.

An ROI of 15% is way above average. The average is about -9%.

9%?? I thought 30% was above average and 20%-30% was the norm?

Lemme ask this.

If I play in 2 STT and the buy-in is $10+$1, I win the first and lose the second, what is my ROI?

$10+$1*2=$22
1st place=$50
Profit=$28

127.27%??

LM is quite correct. The average ROI for a $10+1 is exactly a loss of 1/11 (about 9%) for all players. This equates exactly to the fee that the poker site takes from your entry.

To get a positive ROI you have to play better than the average player. A good player may have ROI of 20%+, but the average ROI is negative.

Sharkscope is an internet site which records SNG results from a number of poker sites. It allows you to search by player name and site and gives various details such as number of games played, total won/lost and ROI.

I don't know how accurate it is. My records show my ROI as higher than on Sharkscope, but that is probably because I didn't keep records for my early (probably losing) SNGs.

Could you reply to my post and let me know if I'm correct in my calculations?

Yes, your calculation is correct for 2 SNGs.
