They either had 2 pair and got lucky or they were masking the trip J.

Trips is a big hand here so I think you are ok with the large raise - the reraise also.

When hustlr gets back he will be able to give you a more informed answer

I would put a large "Negative ghostrider" on the reraise.

Its fine to bet, but all hands he'd reraise with have you beat...so just call assuming you can't fold.

Looks pretty standard to me. I would have reraised predraw with trip 5's. It has been a long time since I played NL 5 Card draw for cash (have played for clothes but it was a crooked game if you know what I mean). The raise postdraw is fine, he makes this bets with hands worse then the one you have because he was the aggressor predraw. So after the draw this hand is perfectly standard. Although unless he is a total maniac a fold here may be a decent play. But you are getting really good pot odds in case he has a small 3 of a kind or maybe got a little too frisky with just two pair.

I'm new to 5CD so please feel free to point out any errors in the following answer, as I am posting it for my learning as much as yours:

Villain raises pre-draw, so I put him on big pair or better or a strong draw. Villain takes 1 card so I put him on 2 pair or a draw (possibly masking his set). You take 2 cards so villain will put you on a set. Villain bets into you post draw.

I think he is unlikely to bet into you with a busted draw, as he should have put you on a set when you took 2 cards. Again 2 pair should know that you have him beat. However, he might be trying to represent that he hit his draw and has you beat as he knows that you will put him on one of the two hands above. If he was masking a set, it is likely to be bigger than yours, or he hit his draw and has you well beat.

So the only time you are ahead is if he is bluffing a busted draw, being overly aggressive with 2 pair or has a baby set. I can see why you might call his bet, but raising him is a mistake, as the only hand that calls you (or worse re-raises) has you beat. You should definately have folded to the reraise.

I would have reraised pre-draw, because at this point you are well ahead of his likely range and as soon as you take 2 cards he will put you on a set and you will not get value post-draw from a weaker hand.
