A young poker player is rapidly improving his game. His win rate, P, in BB/ table hour increases as a function of time, t, in table hours, defined by the expression:

P=f(t)=[8sqrt(t) - 3], where t E R, t>0

How much money, in big blinds, did this young player earn after 10 tables hours? After 20 table hours? Solutions without supporting work will receive no marks.

Regards

I have exams starting on May 4th I believe, I'm done by like the 10th I think, it's nice (in college at UIUC though...). I have Calc III, Introduction to Computing Systems, World Religions, and Mechanical Physics (and Concert Band but I don't think there's a final in that, lol).

That's a pretty ballin' schedule. You have papers in physics and math??? (well I had a paper in calc but it was a joke, wouldn't really consider it a paper, more of an annoyance). And why do you have several papers due on the same day for the same class? I'm with you on all the AP stuff, I took AP chem and lit/comp as a junior and AP calc AB and stats as a senior. I took AP language/comp as a senior but I didn't take the AP exam since I got a 4 on the lit exam and therefore received the maximum english credit that UIUC would give me. I wish I could have taken AP Physics but my school didn't offer it. I couldn't even take regular physics because the only time during the day that the school offered it was during band and I wasn't about to quit band after 7 years, knowing that this was my year to be first chair... Didn't offer AP psych either... Was gonna take AP History but the school got rid of it the year I was planning to take it.

Anyways good luck.

(hard to show work with ascii...)

I assumed t = 0 was valid...

integral[f(t)dt] from 0 to 10 = integral[(8sqrt(t) - 3)dt] from 0 to 10 =
[(2/3)*((t^1.5) - 3t] from 0 to 10 = [(2/3)*((10^1.5) - 3(10)] = (= 138.655 BB

integral[f(t)dt] from 0 to 20 = integral[(8sqrt(t) - 3)dt] from 0 to 10 =
[(2/3)*((t^1.5) - 3t] from 0 to 20= [(2/3)*((20^1.5) - 3(20)] = 417.028 BB

Would be pretty embarassing if I messed this one up...

Well, the papers are just different sections of the exam.

Example -

In English,

Paper 1 is just a literary prompt

Paper 2 is a prompt on drama

Paper 3 gives us a prose passage and a poem

or

In History,

Paper 1 is a Document Based Question

Paper 2 is a free response question

Paper 3 involves two essays

I'm in this International Baccalaureate program that puts us through this rigorous schedule and hence that's why I have so many exams. If I pass with a total score of 24 then technically I have enough credits to skip a year of college (brag).
