Wow - shads is officially the best at winning when misplaying a hand.

Yeah, you have to feel bad for him, but we all know we would have all gone bust had things been reversed.

For what its worth I dont think the hand is misplayed against this specific opponent and the way we had been playing. I'm pretty sure he would call the river with AQ or AJ and maybe even QQ/JJ altho its doubtful because this looks life a bluff or KK and I had overshoved bluffed twice already this match altho be it in the first game we played today, neither of them were called so I like the shove here.

Kwan, say it ain't so, you've lost your crown as king of the luckboxes?

Say it ain't so!!!

PS - that really does suck, and even though I'm having a bit of fun here, I actually know how you feel, so you do have my sympathies. Nothing to do but grab a very, very stiff drink after that. I have a decent # of bottles of scotch at home, for obvious reasons.

Maybe you're right about the specific opponent (I didn't have that info).

BUT, why I said it was misplayed, was because I think you can get paid off by as many hands betting the turn and river, if not more, than you can by shoving river.

For example, he's going to pay you off if you bet the turn, when he has AA/QQ/JJ and all those hands you think he'll call a river shove with, because there's no reason to put you on the king. As well, since when does a bet on the turn look weaker than a shove on the river? Maybe against this opponent, although I don't know how you could know that, but not against most.

Way I see it, you get $ on the turn from as many hands as you get $ on the river, and then some. AA is a perfect example - do you think he'll pay you off less if you bet the turn? If anything, it ensures you get paid off even if he folds the river to a shove. Same goes with QQ/JJ.

The fact that it's HU makes it even more likely you'll be called on the turn.

You are putting him on a very tight 4betting range and this game had been pretty crazy although the second "session" had just started so perhaps he tightens up slightly. I didn't bet the turn purely because I thought he would expect me to do that with the K, I had played with this guy for a couple of hours already so I wanted to mix it up a bit plus I think I can get more value from letting him bluff/value bet the turn and then river where I can just c/c twice (which was my initial plan) but then the A came on the river and since he hadnt bet the turn either I thought he had Ax and would call the shove given the previous history as I said.

Having said that, obviously he was mixing it up too so my reasoning was pretty screwed.
