Default A thought on playing into a calling station

So I'm at a table on Bodog yesterday and there's a calling station to my left. Typically when I've seen him call down bets, he's got a hand like Top or middle pair, junk kicker. For whatever reason, I haven't been able to flop ANYTHING lately. I like to see lots of pots cheaply at the micros since it costs very little to do so and not get punished. So i'm UTG +1 and am dealt A7c. i call for .10 and the villian in seat 4 raises to .50, table folds and i call for .40 more. flop is Kc 9c 7h. i've noticed that if i bet into him, he just calls, but if i check, he bets around the pot. If he has just a K, then i've got plenty of outs, any A, any 7, any club. if he never raises me, in theory, i can name my own price to the river. thoughts? am i a retarded donkey?

I think most will tell you to dump this preflop (I'm assuming longhanded...)

But you are about a coinflip to win by the river if he just has a K and not AK. If you are pretty sure he won't raise you, you might as well bet it to avoid a potsize bet from him. I dunno really what the best plan of action would be at this point though...

Im pretty happy to bet here. i might go for 2/3 pot and another 2/3-1/2 pot on the turn. If he raises the flop i might just shove and get it over with..depends on mood and action at the other tables.

You should probably check-call it here. If he's dumb he'll check behind and say basically "i've got KK" so you'll play the rest of the hand with his hand face up. If he bets the pot you're probably versus AK and you might get away with calling all the way to the river since he'll pay you off if you hit anyway (he's a calling station so you've got implied odds).

actually..give me a name and i might know the fella and give you more specific input

you really should fold this preflop. playing draws oop sucks.

If you know he won't raise you then bet giving yourself the right odds to hit the flush. If he likes to mini raise then bet small and create your own odds. But it sounds like he would just call your bet. I wouldn't check because if he likes to bet the pot on a c-bet you'll be paying a lot to see the turn.

If you hit a club on the turn then you know what to do. If you miss the turn then do it again, making the odds just right.

that's just about exactly what happens. just curious if my line of thought was retarded or not.
