Default 10 NL Hand Histories Help

If you are playing some 10 NL or 25 NL, if you send me an email with maybe 60-100 hands, I'll comment it up, and send it back to you.

I find at the very early stages of poker, the problems tend to be very big and easily correctable. Figured I'd offer some help to anyone who is interested.

for those who want to give it a whirl.

Oh, hell, awesome. I'll have to keep track of my next session. Though I'll feel like I'm getting graded while playing. Maybe I'll play good for once.

Would you recommend the hands be consecutive, so that you can decide for yourself whether or not our descriptors about various villains are good, or do you think it would be more beneficial for players to select hands they found difficult?

Always consecutive. And from start to a stopping point. That way I can see exactly what you see.

And generally speaking, I don't think that hands people find difficult are often a good focal point for the lower limits which is one of the flaws of message board type hand histories.

If you are in a tough spot, its generally because one choice isn't much more 'correct' than the other....which means that the value of making play A isn't much higher than play B.

If one were clearly better, then it wouldn't be a tough decision. But the tougher it is, the less important the end decision is.

The difference between Ishbu and the rest of us isn't that he's making the play with .5% more expected value every 50 hands when he encounters a super close decision. He's doing a lot of much more fundamental type things dealing with his overall approach to the game (in particular aggression which I certainly don't have a grasp on yet. I know he's doing it, but I can't duplicate it.)

The point being the difference between levels of poker is not decisions in bubbles, its large scope fundamentals of your game. If you are laboring at a lower limit, its because you are doing something important wrong often. And that probably extends up through all the levels with the complexity of the important wrong thing increasing.

I better jump on board before you get swamped! I've recently switched from limit to FR NL, and I'm winning pretty comfortably at 10NL, but I know I'm making a lot of mistakes, especially which hands to raise pre-flop and which to limp. Limit was very automatic, I always knew exactly when to raise etc, but I'm not so sure with NL.

Question, though - how do you want the hand histories sent? Do I copy and paste them all into one long file?

Awesome idea, and very much appreciated.

Just as text in an email. I'm going to copy it to msword, and comment it in red.

And to clarify, when I say 60-100 consecutive hands, I mean from the same table in the same session.

You can. I don't think that I'd be particularly helpful though. I don't really play much SNG or Headsup. I can tell you what I think, but I don't know it'd be any more valuable and probably would be less valuable than what you think.

Thanks a lot for the offer. I've just finished a session which I felt went quite well. I am sure you can tell me how it could have been better. The email will be with you shortly.
