Please check-call to the river and then get it in when you've already lost the hand.

yeah you have to bet the turn there. If you put him on Ace, X hes definately going to put his stack in when you have him crushed. The runner runner beat does suck though.

Once that turn hit, it was fated. Very possibly, even if you reraised that flop, he'd call.

Sorry, man. That sucks.

You're missing a fundamental point. He waited til the river to get the money in. Make him pay for his runner runner. Slowplaying the flop might not be terrible (although leading out is probably best) but once that A hits on the turn you have to bet-reraise or at least check-raise. At this point he has an Ace and is going to pay you off or he doesn't. Slow-playing more lets him catch up.

No, I agree. But I wasn't really analyzing his play here. I was just trying to offer my condolences over the bad beat.

so besides betting that turn what do you think I could of done different'. I pretty much knew he had the ace, but wasn't expecting him to turn over the four with it.

If you "knew" he had an Ace then bet/raise. He's obviously not folding. You played the hand super passive and you let him control the action. Get some monies in there while you're still ahead. Make your opponent make a mistake.

I think about the only thing that maaaaay have saved you money, was leading out the flop. Perhaps kicker concerns might have come into play, before the river. But you didn't want to shove him off his hand, either, I know.

And you felt like you were ahead on the river, too. So, for all intents and purposes, you did you get your money in while "ahead." Still, if you figured him for an ace, there's really no reason to slowplay the turn.

Altogether, though, I really have to think you were boned, here. Again, that sucks.

Not to be a dick, but get more money in when ahead, and less when behind in the future.
