Default Best poker books?

What are the best and most instructive poker books out there?

Are the best poker books necessarily written by the best poker players? (the Hellmuth and Brunson books come to mind)

Ooo one I can answer.

To start out:

For limit hold em: Lee Jones (not sure of title)
David Sklansky - Winning Small Stakes hold-em

For NL Tournys: Dan Harrington - Harrington on Hold em Vols 1&2
Phil Gordon - Little Green Book

For NL Cash Games: eeerrrrrrrrrrrrrm help someone

Sklansky's will pay itself off fast.

Not much help here, but I can tell you that the Hellmuth book is nearly universally panned by people whose opinions I respect, and these same people have told me that the Brunson book is good, however it should not be read until you've reached a certain level of play (likely high stakes). It's not a book about fundamentals, essentially.

Super system 2 is quite great if you plan on playing several games (it deals with triple draw, omaha8 limit, PLO, stud8+, NL HE and limit HE).

For tourneys dan harrington vol I and II are the bible.

David Sklansky - Winning Small Stakes hold-em is also a very great one.

Also I checked the book review and it is not said there, what are the games discussed in super system ? apparently draw poker and stud HI.

If there is also razz I may buy it.

Anyone would know a good book for these 3 games ?

Via Wikipedia:
Don't know if that refers to SS 1 or 2, however. I think it's 1.

I assume you guys mean "Small Stakes hold'em: Winning big with expert play", by Ed Miller, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth.

Screw the books and just join cardrunners. (The Miller/Sklansky book is ok though, and there's a new 2+2 book that might be good).

Sklansky wrote a book imaginatively called Sklansky on Razz, which I believe is republished as a section of one of the current 2+2 books. Apparently it's very good. Do a search on 2+2 and you should find the details.
