Whenever I read Lord Toodstool I want to scream. Most of the time because he is right. FWIW, my experience with live 1-2 and 2-5 is that those games are usually softer than Pokerstars NL25.

High stakes poker is softer than stars NL25, let alone Vegas 1/2 or 2/5.

Great discussion..thanks for the suggestions..

Sooo I'm ancy, and decided to take advantage of the free $100 at Absolute (regardless of the latest fraud)....playing some table where the BB is 10c..anyhow, it's an eye oppener to discover how some people just don't like to loose their money

Sit down at a new table and I believe I'm at the cutoff ..dealt K Q, raise it by 4xbb and get a call from the button..board is dealt 357 rainbow I believe...not sure here so I just check where the button bets, maybe $1..I'm sitting with asbout $20 and he/she has about $2 and change so I call...turn is a K so I decide to push (not sure if that is the correct term) and put the button at all in...he calls...river comes up a 5..so I win the hand with two pair K 5, button shows A xh ...he goes mental calling me all kinds of names, telling me to go off and play bingo..blah blah blah....anyhow, I'm easily goated ..but meh..

Right or wrong move?..

I just sat down, so I wasn't sure how this person was playin..

The flop call wasn't really a good move, unless you had a reason to think you could float and steal, and I don't think I like the push much either. But the worst move of the hand history was when the villain called all in w AXh, by far.

People like to berate people all the time -- it's really funny stuff to me, but at least try not to let it bother you, because it will happen a lot.

Yeah, don't pay attention to anything someone says in the chat. Most of the time I don't even have it displayed (have the notes box opened up or tourny box if I am in a SNG or MTT). Really the only three things I type in the chat are "gg, nh, ty". The few times I have let the chat get to me, it was when someone started berating a fish that was calling everyone down. The fish left because of it, and then we were stuck with a bunch of rocks.

I hope you didn't make the call because he only had $2 left. Although you can't loose too much, you have no implied odds if you do make a hand.

Thanks for the tips...soooo much to try and keep track of when your starting out that implied odds are way down the list for me at the moment I've been reading quite a bit here and although it may have been out of context, was thinking that playing super TAG might not profit all that much at the micro's so I suppose to sum it up I was playing very LAG(?)...it was working nicely in another table after observing that most of the players there were playing hyper TAG and a simple raise with position of course would often result in folds all around.

Trying to play a balanced game I guess, and it's something I definetly need to work on as I did wind up loosing at the table mentioned above by constantly playing too LAG i.e. donk'ish and not switching or mixing it up..I think I'm on the right track with this mentality, trying to play "my" game with fundamentals and observation as a basis..yes/no??

A question...if the villian had not raised to $1..but say 2BB (at work at the moment and don't have history here)..was it wrong to call on the flop in that circumstance??

I'm hoping that internal reflection is the best way to improve your play but man I am playing just TERRIBLE!! It is a humbling experience to start off on something and completely fail in your first attempts..but alas there is no give up in me so on I continue...here's a hand history that busted me out yesterday. Just wondering if I didn't bet enough on each street to push this guy away from trying the draw..thanks...

Just on that last hand:

I'd favour letting it go pre-flop. Limping into a multi-way pot with it isn't the worst thing, though, as it's cheap and against multiple opponents you're getting good implied odds to hit something.

I like the flop bet. If he doesn't have the FD, there's a good chance you take it right there (villain dependent, of course). I'd bet more on the turn, I think, although only about .6.

The river bet is ok, I think. Given that he's shown nothing but passivity up to now, and then shoved when one of the draws comes in, there might be a fold in there (I'm finding it tough to say as I know what's happened - it's better with HH posts not to say so that your answers don't become results-orientated).

Turn bet was too small.
