Probably could have done different then smooth call preflop, but other then that, did i play this right? I didn't think anyone caught that flop very big, and i was hoping the turn would catch someone and it did.

fold preflop

if your gonna limp that trash, bet the flop

if your gonna check the flop, raise the turn more, dont minraise

river bet is fine i guess...

but yea you shouldn't really feel good because you didn't play the hand good, no offense.

gosh, even when i think i play it well it turns out to be bad, but i guess that's why i'm here

i called on the flop because I play King-x suited like Ace-x suited on the button, limp if possible and go for a big hand

but if i bet the flop, what do i get called with? probably just someone with a strange two pair or a set right? if i check i can let them hit top pair or three of a kind in this case. I understand i must be wrong, but how?

i understand i should have raised more on the turn, makes sense, he would have called almost anything.

thanks guys

Yeah, I get the feeling from some of your posts that you're equating luck with good play. Flopping the 2nd nuts is lucky and finding someone who will pay you off is even more so, but as others have said please don't mistake winning the hand for playing it well. This is the "results oriented thinking" you'll hear people refer to so much.

I don't see any problem in playing a suited King from the Button when folded to you, but if you play it you need to raise not limp. No offence but you should also wait to play hands like this until you've got the basics right.

The reason you bet the flop in situations like this is because you're trying to build a big pot. Betting the flop allows you to bet more in later streets. You have also given your opponents the valuable information that you like to check monster hands from position.

Ditto with the turn - don't min-raise. It's bad play and you miss the chance to build a larger pot for your river bet. You've done this in other hands posted so try and break the habit now before it's too late.

I actually think you can bet more on the river. There's only a very slim chance he has 4s full and anything less that calls a raise on the turn (lower flush, trip 4s, 2 pair) is probably calling more than $2 on the river.

Perhaps, but why build bad habits that will hurt you later on?

Without sounding like and ass (see: grace post), I just want to point out how contradictory these 2 statements are.

1. "Limp and go for a big hand" - unlikely to flop a flush, and even if you do, its a big hand against a small field with a small pot.

2. "What do I get called with, probably someone with 2pair or set" - exactly, and when the turn hits as it does how can you be sure you're still good? What if it came another club? The Ac would probably call you on the flop for a small-med sized bet and now your really screwed.
