Default NL 100 - weird preflop spot

so this guy has openshoved ~ 8 times in the last 20 minutes.
no one has called him yet.

whats your range for calling here?

BB: $53.40
UTG: $56
Hero (MP): $231.15
CO: $36.15
BTN: $94.95
SB: $56.40

Pre-Flop: XX dealt to Hero (MP)
UTG raises to $56 and is All-In, Hero???

I think I muck AQ, muck 99. TT+ AK calls

If you were CO I would call 99 and AQs.
If you were BTN I would call 88 and AQo/AJs/KQs.

Could be somewhat off though, takes some math to figure out the exact ranges. Maybe some tourney player has a better feel for it.

because we have a BR and we take EV everywhere in sight, nit.
If the guy has been shoving a lot, I think the most important part determining with what we call is how many players are left behind us as Bubble pointed out.

The guy's shoving >40% of his hands so small pairs, any 2 face-cards and almost any ace is in his range. Plus you'll see idiots like this get caught out with 93o from time to time.

From late position and with him covered 4:1 I'd definitely go with Bubble's range and probably wider. Certainly I don't need premium hands here if I'm going HU.

The original question was what is my range for calling. The answer is none. I don't call. I push.

I like a bigger range here. Probably down to A10o and down to 88. If I have the button or the CO it doesn't change my range much. I would have pushed.

I understand the concern over people to act behind. Two things make me less concerned than others. One, there is only one player behind with near a full stack. Two, my push is very strong it should reasonably shrink the range that players behind will consider calling with. If I were them, I am throwing away AQ- and TT-. Probably tossing JJ and I might even consider getting rid of AK. My push gives them a very small range. If the $95 stack behind is a looser player, then I would shrink my range some but not by much.

BTW... I don't include KQ suited or not in my range. Just Aces down to A10. I want an ace or a pair.

regards

I could never see this being the right play.

Shoving eight times in 20 minutes of play doesn't mean that he is shoving every other hand. He likely has at least a pp or an Ace. So if the pp is lower, you are flipping, otherwise you are a dog. If he has an ace you are a dog unless he is shoving A6? I can't see this being profitable.

A big problem with A7 is its alot easier to be dominated and hard to dominate and its only a moderate favorite against weaker holdings, even QT its 3-2. A7 against smaller Aces isn't 3-1 favorite, alot of time when both miss it will get chopped with neither kicker playing.
