Default Planning a trip to Vegas...

Me and my mates are planning a trip to Vegas next year...

I was wondering if you can beat the rake at the lowest NL ring games they have there, I don't even know what the lowest limits are, is it 2NL? How do they rake it? Do they charge per hour? If so how much?

Can a beginner like me even beat the rake? Probably plenty of bad players making huge mistakes and I'm hoping my skill level will increase by next year .

1/2 NL or 1/5 spread is the lowest game you'll find. For Limit 2/4 is the lowest but some older casino's might still have 1/2 games.

They rake a max out of each pot, just like online (some casinos may have different rules). If you're only there for a few days or a week beating the rake shouldn't be a concern at all.

Yes, with good table selection the rake will be very beatable. Standard TAG ABC poker will net you at least 20BB/100 against a random table at the lowest limits, since one player will gift you a buy-in every few hours, although a decent amount of that will go in rake.

MGM GRAND $1/2Nl was timed blinds as of a year ago. I believe if memoryserves me correctly its 1 red chip per half hour($5).

Beatable............hells yeah. Tourists x beers+ people with no time to grind=+ev. I usually do well at 1/2 but I had all my friends in Vegas with me telling me its time to go to stripclub, so my last hand was all in on flushdraw.. Who ever was grinding that table out loved that i was in a rush

At the lowest limits, most of the rakes I've seen are capped off at $4 or $5 per pot and it's $1 for every $10 in the pot. Some will rake an additional dollar for bad beat jackpots or cracked aces or whatever. Make sure you ask if they have those sorts of things. Nothing could be worse than someone folding aces over kings because he knows the other guy has 4 of a kind or something.

I'd like to play some tourneys also, what about the Shuffle Ozone posted about low limit MTT's being unbeatable because of the rake and terrible structure?

Does anyone agree with this?

Maybe the live donkeys just soulread you and the rake eats your stack away because you're a nit?

On a serious note, 20BB/100 (that's $40 pre rake profit every 4-5 hrs at 1/2) is sustainable, in my opinion, at a deep stack buyin 1/2NL game, with good table selection (drunk casuals/ asian gambler kids/ nits) and standard TAG play.

I always play limit when I'm in Vegas, the pots get real big and your tptk is usualy good against 4 players. Sure you take a few beats here and there but the pots you win will be healthy ones.
