Default This is called limit advice?

From pokernews.com strategy section regarding limit holdem:

You must remember though that if in late position you get a big hand like aces but several players have already called you shouldn't raise, as no-one will fold and you will just make the pot bigger and give drawing hands more reason to stay in. Similarly in mid position, you should be less inclined to raise with the smaller hands listed when a couple of people have already called, and just 'limp' after them to see the flop.

Right now there might be players in .05/.10 limit games sitting with aces preflop going "Crap two people already limped and now I shouldn't raise"

Free advice is seldom cheap

There is merit behind what is being said and certainly there are hands like small-mid pocket pairs which you would rather now over-limp than open-raise due to the fact you're looking for set value mainly now but limping AA there is terrible.

The type of players who say this are usually the type who bitch when the board comes K3692 and the Big Blind who they gave a free ride wins with 36o or 45o.

I can obviously see their point why you wouldn't want a big pot with a big hand though...uh...wait no....*sigh*

This is why I pay 15BB/month for poker advice

What idiotic advice. Limit hold 'em is about getting the money in while you are ahead and your opponents are still calling.

By the way, does anyone here play limit anymore? I've basically quit. I love the game but at Pacific it's basically dead. Plus, since I started playing NL I have just found you can really pound on the retards. In limit that guy who calls to the river with A high every time only loses a few bets each time he does it (and whenever he does it to me he always spikes his 3 outer anyway!) in NL, it will cost him his stack and there is nothing I love more than stacking some fuckhead who cannot fold a pair/ A high.

Yes, i still play limit. Oh and i´m probably that guy who calls you down with ace high.

I´ve tried to play NL, but it seems i just can´t learn that game. Everytime i have a 300BB DS in Limit, i try to play NL but i dunno it doesn´t work that well for me. I want to see the hand from Villain at the SD, i want to calldown with ace high, i want to call on the turn with my gutshotdraw and so on.

LHE best game in world imo. NL sucks.

Even if i play 10 NL tables, i'm bored. No Action. I push all in with nothing or raise crap hands just because i want some action. Its obv. that this is -EV.

I play Limit and there is enough action at the tables. I started Limit when I was bonus chasing, cause I could realy clear them fast.
Its really hard to switch to NL. I m playing lowlimit SnGos now to get used to NL and get rid of Limit habbits.

I know how much of a nit this makes me look, but I play small stakes limit because it's so very easy to make $; for me it pays for the poker I really enjoy much much more, but at which I'm nowhere near as proficient, namely small stakes Sngs and MTTs. Everytime I need my next $50 for my $1-5 sngs, I go back to the 0.25/0.50 limit tables and sit and wait. For the recreational player (and I aspire to nothing more) it just keeps the bankroll ticking over. Min limit omaha hi/lo is another fine place to make small money if you want a bit of variety; most of the players there are dire.

I'm curious, do you have any idea what your win rate is per 100 hands at that level?

Obviously I still play Limit because I don't know anything else and SSNLHE would probably have me quitting the game through boredom.

PLO on the other hand has just the right amount of action and bloodcurdling variance that it seems a nice logical step if I go on an extended losing streak .... well that plus I live 15 minutes away from Stox's PLO instructor.

And Frufru I luuuuurve the A-high calldown too

Although I did Bet-Call King-High on the river 2 nights ago (was good too). Does this make me a bad person??

And Re: Winrates

I've got 15k hands with a 5.5BB/100 winrate at 0.5/1...I think I ran quite good.....

I think a good player should be able to maintain 2BB/100 from 0.5/1 to 2/4 especailly with RB deals...after that it gets sketchy and very based on how good you table-select and adapt to TAGGY play.

Hey, I totally agree with you guys. Limit is a lot more fun but a good player will make more money playing NL. I have absolutely no doubt about that anymore. That is where the huge fish are now. Also, I think the variance is less in NL. You don't get nearly as many mind numbing bad beats, it's just too expensive to call down with bottom pair all the time. Admittedly, I've probably only played around 30k hands or something but I find I have less losing sessions playing NL than I did when I was a limit specialist. You can just exploit the fish so much more in NL. I still think limit is my best game but there just is hardly any games running at Pacific anymore and I refuse to go and play low limt at the rock gardens that are Stars and FT. It's fucking ridiculous, I look in the Stars lobby sometimes for a laugh and see 0.25/0.50 limit games with 25% to the flop. Are you fucking kidding me? Who would want to play in those shitty games?
