Default Casinos in Japan?

So this may be the mark of a degen, but I'm heading on a trip to japan in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to play up there? I'm visiting a buddy of mine who is getting r and r, but figured if there are any fun juicy games I might try my hand.

It always seems that the crazy asian businessmen types are super spewy, and there has to be tons in Japan, amirite?

I'll be starting in Tokyo, probably hitting Kyoto, Osaka, and not sure after that.

Any suggestions?

Awesome. Japan's pretty high up on my list of places to go. Make sure you post a trip report when you get back, oh and have fun

Japan is supa mega nice, but not for casino! Gambling is illegal (with some cultural exceptions) and there is no land based casino in Japan, (and no online gambling Japan based website either). I think they will be authorized in the next years, but for now all you'll find is some illegal back door Yakuza runned gambling house. This looks like in the movies but you won't be at risk, they don't kill gaijin execpt you mess badly with them.

Casino industries should be opened to market from 2010 or so in Japan, and I don't know about China, but till there, you'll have to head to Singapour or Macau to find degen gambling places in Asia. (This is the places with the Asian degens you speak about).

Nice trip to Japan though, and enjoy the life there for what it is (maybe being away from the tables will help you doing it).
Which city do you go by the way ?

On my own I love so much Japan that I'm actually planing a 1 year road/picture trip all around Japan. I'm preparing my journey for months now, and I even learned to speak Japanase. All I need now is my special one year visa, which will be difficult to obtain.

So Kmay, Gambatte !

Arf, sorry I did'nt saw you mentioned the Cities you plan to go.

Tokyo is nice, but I don't like it. Make sure you go to Shinjuku-ku and Shibuya-ku. This is where the party is, with alot of Japaneses and foreigners.
From there you should go to Chiba prefecture. There is Chiba City, then the very old country (like you can see in the Samourai movies), then you hit the beaches (I don't know why, but I like Japaneses coasts). From there you could go to Kamakura.

Kyoto is AWESOME. I like it. Everything there is a must see . Make sure you spend a night in Gion, walking around with Geishas (and no, they are not prostitutes, so be aware if you don't want to spend a night or two at the local Koban)
One good idea would be to spend one night or two in a Ryokan (tradiotional hostels). You can find some good ones in Kyoto. From there, you should go to the Fujisan, and spend some times in an onsen (thermal station). Then go back to the stress of the city in Osaka. You'll give me a trip report for Osaka, because I don't know the city .

You should go to Hiroshima or/and Nagasaki. These towns are best known for their tragic part in WW2, but they also are 2 big atypical towns.

Fukuoka is a must see. This is a very beautiful town, well know from local tourists but not that much by foreigners for what I know.

I can't spend my day giving you tips, but basically you should give a try to Nagoya, Yokohama, Sapporo, and if you can, Okinawa Islands.
Nagano and Aomori also...

Oh well, it depends how much time you'll have !!!
If you have any questions, I'll be happy to help.

When I look for a casino to play in, I know that I always prefer not to die.

Haha, if he takes pictures, we will basically never know it did really happened. There's a chance that maybe a tuna fishing boat will find him in a net 10 miles from the coast....

First, about going there, I would advise speaking Japanese and or Korean (usually the "owners" are Korean and the "regulators" are the Yaks). Then you'll see that it's clearly "non violent". If you try to escape while owing them tons of money, of course...but this is not Macau (where you can get stab in the neck by behind and left for dead in a garbage trunk). Even the use of violence is highly regulated by the Yaks. Well I won't mess with them, though. But being a gaijin you'll be suspicious enough and I bet they wont let you enter.

Then, there's no chance you get rob in Japan. All the Japanese have tons of cash all day long. There is nothing like robbing people in the street with a knife in Japan. It's very secure and they all have cash in their pockets. Of course, if you go in suspicious places full of migrants (from south east asia), check your pockets.

You may suffer a Granny attack or a Grandpa rampage though. Old retired Japanese sometimes commit crimes, seeking to be jailed (where they will be assured a roof and food which they can not afford with their non existent retirement pension).
So if a grandpa or a grandma assault you, be kind with them
