Default Is it worth it?

Theres a $22 bricks and mortar tourney near me every monday night. Played for the first time tonight. I was told theres usually 25-30 players, and top 3 pay. Its not worth it, is it?

Im better off staying at home, sitting in my own filth and happy tissues, masturbating to Bollywood movies (they dont even have to be bollywood porn) and playing four $5.50 SnG's... right?

Your help would be appreciated, (including suggestions on new "alone time" viewing material)

P.S. Im not usually this weird when posting but have been reading a few threads here and... YOURE ALL WEIRD! coughcoughKcespeciallycoughcough

What percentage of the money goes towards the payouts? Are the players bad?
How is the blind structure?
If the players are bad enough to the point where it makes it so you can win more despite the worse structure and higher rake, then it's worth it. Also if you have more fun playing live, then it's worth it. $22 live tourneys aren't going to make you rich, so just have fun.

seems like masturbating is a big part of your decision. so for brick and mortar you'd have to get a room for the "other" session. probably -ev imo.

Paying out only the top three spots seems like pretty poor structure, unless of course you make the money. Four to six payout positions seems like less of a gamble. I play a monday night game where there are normally two full tables and three payout positions, but since the players are very weak on average it is a profitable game. Your opponents are the key variable, IMO. I'd suggest playing this tournament at least once to find out. You may stumble across a decent cash game while there. It's good to get away from the computer once in awhile too and sit at a real table, as you learn you can no longer pump your fist and scream "fuck yeah!" when dealt rockets.

define worth it? live poker is much more fun than internet poker. it's not like you're going to get rich playing $5 sngs, and if your aim is to become a higher stakes player, the live experience is good.

also indian chicks are hot, it's probably all that curry.

Don't you like playing live or something?

Even if it was slightly -EV to play I'd probably still play just for the fun of it, better than sitting in from of a PC on your own for 3 hours playing KingJackaments.

Think of it like bingo except it's probably better EV, also you should know what the fee is because if you're paying $22 and only $15 goes to the prize pool then it sucks, it's irrelivant what the payouts are because it's still +EV but with higher variance (assuming the fee is low enough to make it +EV, which I doubt as low stakes live tournaments never have low enough fees).

What is te structue like? Are the blinds ridiculously fast or what, how many chips u start with? That should be factored into it as well as the fee but the fee should be your main concern.

Also how much is the taxi/bus/fuel gonna cost you? Plus you're probably gonna buy a drink or two right?

Never thought of that did you eh?

So -EV

Also if you're only playing $5 online then you're not rolled for it, do you wanna bust out and then have to get staked like LordMushroom???????????? then end up having a tantrum over some software that's probably not going to make much of a difference anyway and even if it did you still wouldn't have the right to demand something that wasn't agreed upon before being stakes would you now?

Then you'd have to leave pokertips because of the shame and such negative rep then your wife and kids would probably leave you and you'd end up homeless with just a laptop and a neighbours wifi connection having to grind $1 SNGs just so you can buy some Vodka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you run bad then all you'll be able to buy is Meths and that's health-EV so it's just baaaaaaaaaaaad maaaaan.

So yeah probably should avoid that tournament it's too life-EV you silly sausage!
