Value Bet
Poker Glossary
A bet that is made where the bettor is hoping to be called, so he/she wins extra money from the call. This generally refers to a bet made on the river. For example, suppose you hold Js Jd and the board is Jc 9c 9s 8d 3c. You make a sizeable bet on the river. This would be a value bet, since you are hoping someone will call you and pay you off.
