World Series of Poker Adds Mixed Game Tournament

WSOP, 2006-01-11, by TwoGun

Many poker professionals were agitated at Harrah's upon the release of the schedule for the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP). The schedule featured many low buy-in hold'em events which does not cater to many of the long time pros custom of playing mixed game tournaments. Some of these pros, such as Daniel Negreanu, voiced their opinions loudly. Judging by a recent change to the 2006 WSOP schedule, their voices were heard.

Harrah's announced their plans to add a H.O.R.S.E. tournament to the 2006 WSOP schedule. H.O.R.S.E. is a mixed tournament that blends several popular forms of poker, such as Texas and Omaha hold'em, Stud, and Hi/Lo games. Many of the biggest cash games played today employ some form of a mixed game format.

Rumors are that Harrah's will set the buy-in for this H.O.R.S.E. event at $50,000. This will likely result in a who's-who of poker as not many online amateurs will be willing to pay such a high buy-in.

The exact date and buy-in of this H.O.R.S.E. tournament has not yet been announced.
