Borgata Winter Poker Open $10k NL Hold'em

WPT, 2006-02-02, by TwoGun

In 2005, when Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi made back to back World Poker Tour (WPT) Final Tables, many people believed such a feat may never again be accomplished due to the growth of poker. After finishing 2nd last week at the Goldstrike World Poker Open, Mizrachi rolled in to Atlantic City this week with a chance to repeat his feat from 2005â¦and he did just that.

The Borgata Winter Poker Open is a new event on the WPT. Nevertheless, 381 poker players put down the $10,000 entry fee for a chance to become the next WPT champion. Simply making another final table didn't seem to be satisfying enough to Mizrachi though. After losing heads-up to Scotty Nguyen last week, Mizrachi made sure to close the deal this week. By doing so, he earned himself a $1.1 million first place payday.

Two other well known pros came up just short behind Mizrachi. John D'Agostino and Erick Lindgren finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Amnon Filippi, Josh Spiegelman, and Stuart 'thedonator' Patterson rounded out the TV final table of 6, which will air on the Travel Channel this year.

Can Mizrachi make it three WPT final tables in a row? We will not have to wait long to find out. One of the World Poker Tour's most popular stops, the L.A. Poker Classic, begins February 17th.
