WSOP Circuit Event #8: Harrah's Rincon $10k NL Hold'em

WSOP, 2006-03-08, by TwoGun

Many regard Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken as one of the best online tournament players in the world. His success with online poker has now translated into a major live tournament victory. Dicken bested 109 entrants in a recent WSOP Circuit Event to win an impressive $372,000.

The event, held near San Diego, failed to draw a significant amount of entrants due to the simultaneous running of the National Heads-Up Championships. However, there were still some familiar names atop the leaderboard. One of the best female tournament players in the world, Kathy Liebert, notched a 3rd place finish good for $113,000. WPT final table fixture Andy Bloch won $51,000 for 7th place. WeiKai Chang lost to Gigabet heads-up and had to settle for $207,000.

The next WSOP Circuit Event will be held at Caesars in Atlantic City. There are only four Circuit Events left before the 2006 World Series of Poker begins in late June.
