Poker Charity Events

, 2004-11-08, by TwoGun

Charity groups have always tried to unite sin with good deeds by sponsoring gambling events that raise money for charity. Traditionally, these events have generally been casino nights, raffles, or bingo nights. Lately, there has been a move to host No-Limit Hold'em tournaments in order to raise money for charity. There have been several high-profile tournaments, such as the one that benefited the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles. This event attracted several corporate sponsors, including Party Poker. However, there have also been many smaller events. For example, the small town of Missoula, Montana witnessed a No-Limit Hold'em tournament that benefited its chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Most of these tournaments are legal due to legal exceptions made for charities in gambling laws.
