PokerStars Reaches 5 Million Registered Users

Although it was announced on April 1st, it is no joke. PokerStars now has 5 million registered users. A 35 year old chef named George Draper was thumbed by PokerStars as their 5 millionth registrant. To commemorate this large number of users, PokerStars awarded George with a $10k WSOP Main Event package as well as guaranteed entry to the World Championships of Online Poker Main Event (which is hosted on PokerStars). George will not have to travel far to play in this year's Main Event. He lives in Las Vegas.

PokerStars has reported that less than a year ago their number of users was only 2.5 million. The site, which was launched in the fall of 2001, has seen tremendous growth lately.
