Mother's Day Results In Overlays
Online Tournaments, 2006-05-15, by TwoGun
Poker took a backseat yesterday, as many American players were busy spending time with their mothers and families. Because of this, several major online poker rooms were forced to supplement the prize pools in their big guaranteed tournaments. The $200+$15 tournament at Party Poker with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool only attracted 2,351 entrants, forcing the site to add $30,000 to the prize pool in order to meet the guarantee.
PokerStars had to foot a $102,000 bill in order to reach their guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. Full Tilt Poker's $200,000 guaranteed tournament only attracted $173,000 worth of entrants.
Ultimate Bet's $150,000 guarantee came up just $2,000 short. This is likely due to their late start time and because they promised to add $25,000 to the final prize pool.
