Anti-Internet Poker Bill Passes House Committee
Law, 2006-05-25, by TwoGun
The Internet Gambling Prohibition Act would attempt to deter Americans from gambling online, including playing real-money online poker. Today, it was favorably marked up by a house committee. The committee voted 25-11 to send the bill to the full House of Representatives for a vote.
If it passes the House of Representatives, it will need to pass the Senate as well before becoming law. In the past, bills like faced more opposition in the Senate. Last Congressional session, a bill similar to this one passed the House but not the Senate.
