2006 WSOP Event #39: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship

WSOP, 2006-08-04, by Ozone

With 8,773 entrants, the WSOP Main Event has gotten so large that not only was there a need for multiple first days, but multiple second days as well. Yesterday the remaining 1,160 players enjoyed a day free of WSOP tournament play. Today, for the first time in the tournament, the remaining players will simultaneously play in the Amazon Room at the Rio.

The current chipleader is Dmitri Nobles who has $549,200 in chips. Sixth in chips is poker superstar Daniel Negreanu who holds a stack of $331,000. Defending champion Joe Hachem is not yet dead. He sits with a stack of $114,000.

Phil Ivey enters day three clinging on to a stack of $23,000. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson is also still alive with $55,000. Internet star Eric "Rizen" Lynch has an above average stack of $194,500.

The top 873 finishers will finish in the money. 873rd place pays $14,597. First place will walk away with $12,000,000. Unfortunately all frequent posters of the Pokertips.org Forums have busted out of this event.
