2006 WSOP Event #39: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship
WPT, 2006-08-08, by TwoGun
The WSOP was scheduled to end Monday when twenty-seven players remained. People were eliminated quicker than tournament organizers expected during most of the Main Event, so play ended just after 5 pm PT on Monday, a truly short day for the WSOP Main Event.
Currently, Jamie Gold of Malibu, California has a strong chip lead with about 13 million chips. In second place is Erik Friberg of Stockholm with about 7.7 million chips.
There is a scarce amount of well-known players left in the Main Event. Allen Cunningham has about 2.6 million chips, placing him 13th of the remaining field. PokerTips interviewee Eric Lynch is 17th in chips with about 1.8 million.
