EPT Barcelona: €5,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Tournaments, 2006-09-17, by Ozone

The European Poker Tour (EPT) nearly saw a popular American player head back across the pond with a victory in hand. Phil Ivey, regarded by some as the world's best all around poker player, found himself heads-up with a chance to win the Barcelona Open. However, a 35 year-old Norwegian named Bjorn-Erik Glenne made sure the title remained in Europe. After defeating the tough field of 480, Glenne was awarded €691,000 for first place. Ivey added €371,000 to his massive career winnings with the second place finish.

This tournament marked the start of the third season of the EPT. The event drew largest field in EPT history.
