Online Tournaments, 2006-09-25, by Ozone
A well known player in the online poker world, Jason "Strassa2" Strasser had the biggest score of his career yesterday. Event #10 of the World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) at PokerStars drew a massive field of 2,458. With each participant putting up $1,000 to play, the prize pool shattered its guarantee of $1,000,000.
Strasser bulldozed the field for most of the afternoon and took the huge payday of $442,000. No deal was made at the final table. Barny Boatman, an English professional poker player, finished in 3rd place which earned him $155,000. Boatman, participant in hundreds of live tournaments, can now say the largest tournament payday of his career came online.
Eight events remain in the WCOOP. A much anticipated $5,200 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. tournament will take place on Saturday September 30th. The championship event of the WCOOP, a $2,600 no-limit hold'em tournament will take place the following day. The prize pool for this event will be greater than $3,000,000.
