Party Poker $200k Sunday Guaranteed Results
Online Tournaments, 2006-10-23, by Ozone
Before the recent legislation in America, Party Poker often drew close to 5,000 entrants for their $200+$15 Sunday tournament. At the time, the tournament had a weekly guaranteed prize pool of one million dollars. Since closing their doors to American customers, the poker room lowered their guarantee for the tournament down to $200,000.
Even with this lowered guarantee, the site failed to draw enough entrants yesterday to avoid an overlay. Just 881 players showed up for what once used to be one of the biggest weekly tournaments on the internet. Since 119 more players would have needed to participate in order to meet the guaranteed prize pool, Party Poker was forced to supplement the pot to the sum of almost $40,000.
In the end, "geoffro" took down the $47,000 first place prize beating out "ToniChamp" who won $26,000 for second.
