'The Stardust' Shuts Its Doors In Las Vegas
Business, 2006-11-01, by Ozone
When it was erected in 1958, The Stardust was the world's largest hotel with 1,065 rooms. Last night the Las Vegas casino dealt its last hand of poker and closed its doors after 48 years in business. The Stardust was one of the last big casinos still in operation from the Las Vegas era of Frank Sinatra and mobster-ran casinos.
Owner Bill Boyd plans to build a 5,300 room, $4 billion dollar resort, "Echelon Place", on the ground where The Stardust will soon be demolished.
